“You never really know how much you need this help until you are going through cancer and the college process.”

It was so helpful to have the National GRACE Foundation’s experienced guidance. No one else understood where my daughter had come from and where she was determined to go. We are so grateful for the organization’s support and assistance!

“The college admission and financial aid process can be overwhelming for many families.
For a family dealing with cancer it is paralyzing.”

GRACE Spotlight: Meet Maeve

If you don’t follow us on Facebook, take a minute to meet Maeve, an Osteosarcoma survivor who graduated in 2016 from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor).

The National GRACE Foundation worked with Maeve to help her earn a better chance of scholarship money. Ultimately she was able to pay for 25% of her tuition through outside scholarship assistance!

Maeve hasn’t stopped there. She currently is working in Chicago for a
creative advertising agency and even began earning her graphic design certificate at the Art Institute of Chicago.

For Pediatric Cancer Awareness month, Maeve created pediatric cancer themed stickers to raise funds for pediatric oncology research at RUSH University Medical Center (where she had received treatment) and she’s bringing those skills to us:

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been interested in viewing and creating art. I enjoy trying new mediums and expressing myself in different forms. In 2019 I decided to apply this passion to something that could be applicable to my career path — PR and marketing — by enrolling in the Art Institute of Chicago’s Graphic Design certificate program. The program provided me with basic tools to bring my ideas to life using Adobe Suite programs.

As someone who extensively battled bone cancer in high school, I have also been trying to engage more with the pediatric oncology community in adulthood. September, which is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, means a lot to me so I try to do something special when it comes around. Last year, when COVID paused the traditional charity walks and runs, I went looking for a new alternative. When I grew frustrated that I couldn’t buy any cute survivor gear or accessories I decided to create my own and a line of stickers was born! The stickers were sold on Redbubble, with all proceeds benefiting pediatric cancer research at Rush University.

This year I was delighted when the National Grace Foundation approached me to ask if I could make custom stickers for them. I had an absolute blast working Maria and Anthony this September coming up with different options, ranging in style and use for the organization. Amid almost 40 different options we considered, these are the amazing ones that made the final cut!

The stickers Maeve designed for the National GRACE Foundation are currently in production, but below is a little sneak peek! ALL of the stickers will be available for purchase soon so keep your eyes on your email for the announcement!  Not signed up for our newsletter? Click below to join!

Thank you again Maeve for all of your support!
